The JBC PHBE-2KB Preheater Set is designed to prevent thermal shock when reworking multilayer PCBs. By preheating the PCB before soldering or rework operations, thermal stress on sensitive electronic components is reduced and overall process reliability is improved.
This complete system combines the PHBE heater unit with the PHBS adjustable PCB support, providing a reliable solution for reworking medium to large PCB assemblies such as those commonly used in laptops, communication equipment and PCB panels.
The system offers excellent temperature accuracy and stable heating performance, ensuring that components are not damaged during the rework process.
Heating system
The preheater provides a large heating surface with selectable heating zones for optimal heat distribution.
Heating area:
- 180 × 277 mm (7.1 × 10.9 in) – single heating zone
- 360 × 277 mm (14.2 × 10.9 in) – dual heating zones
Selectable temperature range:
50 to 250 °C (120 to 482 °F)
Peak power:
- 1800 W (120 V / 230 V versions)
- 1400 W (100 V version)
Work modes
The system features three operating modes for flexible temperature control.
Power Mode
Allows working at a fixed power level with the option of using a protection thermocouple.
Temperature Mode
Maintains the PCB at a selected temperature using a regulation thermocouple and optional protection thermocouples.
Profile Mode
Controls the heating rate of the PCB using control and protection thermocouples without exceeding recommended limits.
The system supports 22 temperature profiles with up to 16 steps each.
Up to four thermocouples can be connected in any of the three work modes.
PCB support
The PHBS PCB Support is adaptable to a wide range of PCB sizes and layouts thanks to its adjustable components.
It offers three clearance positions:
- 28 mm (1.1 in)
- 38 mm (1.5 in)
- 48 mm (1.9 in)
This ensures stable and secure PCB positioning during soldering and rework operations.
